i guess everyone's motor is different. I think mine will hold up. Its strong and has given me no problems up to 102,000 and still counting. Isnt that alot of miles to have a turbo on?

Nope, the threads stretch. It's recommended to replace them every time they're out. You dont have to. Im sure you can get away without doing it. But it's not what's recommended. It's also recommended to replace the headgasket, but I reused it. I knew what kind of risk i was getting into. Reusing the stock headbolts would be the same.

you are one of the few lucky people to not have problems with the sohc blowing headgaskets. I can't even keep mine from leaking with arp studs

Im planning to get 300whp on a stock block.. Im a tuner and people tell me im a gifted tuner but I just tune..

On a side note I would surely get arp head studs while you have it apart.. Ask Bauleycivic what happens when people tell you to get arp head studs on a boosted motor and you dont..

I was experiencing stretching of the OEM headbolts @ 7psi and blew my headgasket on my turbo LS. I had the head deck checked for square and it was warped a little. The shop removed 0.003" of material and cleaned the head for $65. I'm installing ARP studs with a fresh OEM headgasket and retuning for 10psi.

There not stretch bolts... I've call 1 Acura and 3 Honda dealership's parts department and none of the guys have sold head bolts and even there mechanics use the same ones.

All I'm saying is that oem headbolts are reusable... not that there good for massive amounts of hp.

So is it not safe at 300whp because of the power or amount of boost? Cause thats only 12-13psi.

dont care what your mechanic says. OEM Head bolts are torque to YIELD. meaning you go past their elastic limit and they will be longer when you take them out after they have properly been torqued down.
read an elementary Book on the Strengths of Materials and you will see what i mean.
and depending on the material, things get really hairy once you get into the region of plasticity.

reuse headbolts if you want. I never will and will never recommend anyone to do so, especially if they are boosting the motor. i've already blown one motor doing so

There's a spec for them. If they're within spec, it's ok to reuse. But let's think. First how many of those mechanics are hooking up turbo's? Second, If there's a spec....they MUST stretch....like almost ALL headbolts. Hell even the ARP's have a point. (recommend no more than 15 uses)....... It's called fatigue strength. Stress vs Cycles.

Why would anyone risk it? Im sure you could probably get away with it though.

I didn't say so... he ask if anyone made over 300+hp oem bolts and I stated I did... Btw I saw what you wrote "Do you want a ******* cookie?" and then you deleted it 2 seconds later slick!

Retorqued my head bolts 3 times. Not running insane amounts of power but... 92 and up Honda bolts are not torque to yield, some older ones were. If you have never taken the head off chances are yours will still be good. Lots of things contribute to a blown HG. Some people have problems even after switching to ARP's. You can't lump everything into one category.

It's all good ... When I did my pistons and rods I was going to get ARP bolts, but at that time it was on national backorder and a waiting period of 1-2 months and I have to get the car out of the shop cuz there was only 2 stalls and my father needed both... But I did use a new oem headgasket

All in all for $100 I would buy ARP head studs!
