Default Do i have to Retune in the WINTER?

I heard somewhere that if you get your car tuned during the summer, something happens (i wasnt really paying attention while reading it) that gets it out of tune during the winter. If i tune my car during the summer do i have to do it again in the winter???

If tuning cost 150/hour and im going to need about 2 hours a tune, im looking at 600 bucks . Does tuning usually cost 150/hour and usually consist of two hours?

If you have a program that consists of some sort of IAT ( intake air temp) correction, then the answer is more than likely no.

But when going to a much bigger injector than stock, it can be a pain to get the IAT corrections dialed in. So it is usually a good idea to atleast get it monitored in the winter or buy a dang wideband and keep an eye on it yourself.

The reason you could have to get retuned is for the cooler weather.. more dense air and all that good stuff.

The cold winter air requires more fuel, wideband and a watchful eye is your best friend.....

How does 2hrs @ $150 and hour= $600 or were you refering to both the intial tune and re-tune? Personally i'd spend $1500 to guarantee my motor was safe, I dont know about you.

That seems about the average going rate. Depending on your EMS, I would have your tuner supply you with the 2 different maps.. one for winter and one for summer. Then all you need to do is swap them out during seasons.

I have two chips. (well, dedicated to weather changes anyways )

One for warm/hot.

One for cold.

Call me ghetto and cheap and all that ****, but I also use a VAFC to trim fuel if needed.

Im going to be chipping my ecu shortly, and the ecu kit im going to buy is like 25-30 bucks and im planning on tuning it with crome. Am i suppose to buy two of them in order to the do "swapping" thing for summer and winter. And it was going to cost me around 250-300 bucks each tune and i calculated doing it twice. any information will help alot thanks

I cant see how you will need a FULL-Retune.... prob at best some AFR tweaking and a re-burnt chip
