Yes, that's fine for 600whp. Its a commonly used version with no real surprises. Just make sure you give it PLENTY of breathing area for it to work. the more surface area exposed for the Mishimotos, the better.

Awesome to hear, it seems pretty well built. IAM considering cuting out the front bumper so the intercooler is 100% exposed!

I wouldn't go that far. They're ok. But you have to go huge to get any efficiency out of them. I'd still prefer the Garrett 18 X 10 X 3 before using a Mishimoto that needs twice the area to do the same thing.

Mac, I know this quite a basic question but what cleaning chemical do you use to clean the outside of an intercooler? I want to keep my Garrett intercooler in tip top condition but I'm worried about using something on it that may react with the aluminium and spoil it.

I just figured you may have favored something over the year's you've been in the game...

Thanks for your time...

don't use anything you wouldn't use on aluminum wheels. use a mild soap/detergent like what you'd use to wash your car with. at least that's what I do.

I've tried with my old intercooler trust me, I've also tried various de greaser product's but nothing seems to work like I'd like it to. The crap they put on our road's in the winter doesn't help...

I typically have used automotive simple green with a bit of DAWN (yes, specifically DAWN), and a cleaning brush from a detail kit to clean the fins without bending them. I perform this on the evolution every 3 months or so since I use that car all year round.

Simple green and aluminum is not good sir. I remember reading a notice that came out while deployed stating that simple green was banned for use on all aluminum aircraft components due to it being a corrosion promoter. Just an FYI. I don't use it at all unless I'm cleaning in the house.

Im running a pro charged intercooled supercharger on my ITR and i had a question about a water to air setup.
Is there any advatage to use a water to air cooler? iv only seen these type of designs below but i think if i get one that might fit properly i can plum my intercooler piping to pass through the end of my front mount intercooler into the water to air cooler and then into the the throtle body to the motor.
Any body ever did something like this! and does it give extra much needed cooling from heat soak from boosted motor?
I think if i get a water pump and a small oil or water cooler and small resivour and some tubing i can try and plum the water to air setup and cool the air a lil more. Is this a idea that would work or would it be really no advantage.

I know on my last Jackson supercharger setup i had a LHT supercharger manifold that incorporated this idea in there manifold design with a similar setup where it used a simple water pump and resivour to recirculated fluid to pass constantly through the manifold where the intake air charge would pass through into the intake ports of the head. so i think it should work theoretically.

heres how my new setup is designed, I was wondering if i fit in the water cooler in somehow after the intercooler exit it will cool the air charge further. Im retuning the motor with more boost so id like to help cool the air as much as i can without using nos or meth injection.

What are your opinions possibly even experiences with this TR8 treadstone intercooler?

We are planning on using this for a car that will be making around 400whp. I know treadstone rates it for 500 and under but I was wondering about its efficiency.

Good to know. Once I anodize it, it'll never be an issue again. Even though its open to corrosion, the oxidizing process in anodizing will eliminate what's left

There is a difference between "aluminum wheel" and "mag wheel" cleaners. The mag wheel usually has a more aciditc base and can etch the wheels. The aluminum cleaners are less abrasive.

I've narrowed it down to these two.

18" Wide x 10.3" Tall x 3
http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=INT

20.1" Wide x 11.2" Tall x 3"
http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=INT

Who comes up with the HP rating cause they seem backwards.
Which one bang for buck?
550-600whp .... I'm leaning towards the 18x10

That's your winner. Don't know why ATP under-rates it, we've used it to over 700whp, especially now that they run 3rd row of louvered fins. You're more than good. I have one of these now for another Evolution project.

let me know if you want detailed pics of the core

Anyone have any input or feedback on treadstone intercoolers. I was just looking on their site and looked at their TR8 intercooler. Anyone use this or have any feedback on it?

one of my buddies has this treadstone one.
Worked well at 500whp.

Done a few myself, this WTA was a Bell core, nice, pricey stuff. Big power car had started with a small blower, and had progressed up to YSI without any intercooler upgrades. She got pretty hot at the end of a pull.
I call the following pics mutt and jeff!

This was a PWR core, supplied by the customer...
Custom rad behind also

Here is the hot set-up where you can see the turbo is just a few inches from the intercooler inlet.

Now, for the hard question...Is this better? I see the benefits of it if the air enters parallel to the raised points, but what about the airflow that goes across them?

Thanks for the response. Your buddy looks to have a sharp car with a nice setup too..

great craftsmanship!
that cnc piece just seems a little overboard. I'm curious to see if there is any difference.

Has any one seen/made any FMIC air ducting plates?
And when would there be benefits?

Applications where I can see it useful are:

a) FRONT ducting plates on narrow FMIC cores like 14-16" wide which air can go around BOTH end tanks.
.... thoughts?
would it do more harm than good IF there was small (2" or so) aluminum plates on the end of each core to reduce air from going around endtanks & help collect the air?

Similar to below.
Also regarding FMIC like on FF setups which have less surface area & air can easily sweep around them.

B) ducting plates BEHIND the FMIC "core" to help "direct" air.
Most honda applications should have some spacing between FMIC & Radiator.
in which this would help direct air passing through FMIC directly through RAD & also prevent FAN from pulling in hot air from the bay(turbo,dp,dt)

Yes, they are neat. Not mine, they are BBI 997 units. Interesting concept though. Thought somebody might have some theories on it's effectiveness.

I've seen a few Ducting apparatus in some Time Attack cars at Button Willow, Eastern Creek and Time Attack Pro Class in English circuit. I have found that the ones used that are elaborate as the one you're showing were really for TA cars only, as they were rather impractical for daily use..

But I do think that it would be interesting to see some fabrication regarding this phenomenon. considering hondas have little room for something like this to begin with, I see nothing wrong with doing it.

Such as correctional fins for intercooler
