Does anyone know what the difference is between the two? I have a Skunk2 jumper harness currently hooked up to my 99Civic withan Obd1 ecu. I plan on using it on my 96Hatch....TIA

96-98 civics are OBD2A
99-00 civics are OBD2B

You don't really need to know the difference for anything do you?

Yes, the connectors are different - well same connectors, but pins in different place. There are also a few more sensors on OBD2b that don't exists on OBD2A (regardless neither of them are used by the OBD1 ECU).

You will need an OBD2a Jumper to use the OBD1 ECU in a 96 car.

it wont work with a 96-98 civic. the major difference is the connectors.

There are a few OBD2 specific sensors such as the Crankshaft Fluctuation Sensor (CKF) that are used by the OBD2 ECU that won't be used by the OBD1 ECU.

OBD2b uses the 'A' 'B' and 'C' plug and OBD2a uses 2 of those and the 'D'....your better off just finding someone to swap ya harnesses....

About sensors...depending on what model...but 96-98 some models dont have a gas tank pressure sender...which would be your only concern...IF you were trying to run a OBD2b ECU...

if youre using OBD1...then the only thing you have to worry about is primary O2, fuel injectors (I think....).

I am too curious if I am gonna have to run different injectors and such...I am going to run a chipped OBD1 ECU in my 00...hmm...anyone else can help?

 

if you use an obd2 to obd1 harness you only need the harness and the obd1 ecu.

You don't need different injectors, distributor, etc.
