Default Deltagate Problem

I ahve a Deltagate 9psi model with a T3-T4 setup on an S2000. For some reason the wastegate doesn't seem to be functioning. There is no boost controller installed at this point, just the sprign pressure.

Basically I just installed the boost guage and I went down the street and got in to boost and it spiked to 1 bar almost instantly, and I quickly let off. Then I tried it again in 4th gear and it car spiked to 1.3 bar before I let off.

I took the wastegate off and figured out that it was the 9 psi version, however it didn't seem to function at all, like it was stuck.... I took it off and was able to press down on it and get it to open a tiny bit with my thumbs using a ton of force.

I loosened the bolt on the top of the wastegate to try and lessen the spring pressure, but haven't tried it yet.

Do you guys have any suggestions??

Thanks!

Chris

I have seen this a couple of times with the Delta wastegate. If you can sell the Delta and use a TiAL.

How is your Deltagate hooked up to read boost pressure? It it at the manifold, or off the compressor housing?

You left alot to be imagined about your setup. I'd worry about the installer/owner before the part, first. My Deltagate has never spiked.

Did you remember to hook the bottom port on the wastegate up to your intake manifold to receive boost? If not, do that and it will cure your problem.

Also, Deltagate and Tial are indentical in terms of mechanical function, both utilize a diaphragm with an acutator rod tied to a exhaust "valve". Either work just as well when hooked up properly. Tial wastegates have a much nicer fit and finish...but as long as the diaphragm isn't ruptured, both work the same...
