problem w/ Hallman ES boost controller and tial wastegate
okay my tial wastegate spring is supposed to be at .45 bars but all i'm getting is .1 bar... 1st question... what is wrong with this wastegate??? i got it from the groupbuy here awhile back..
ok so after i got pissed at my wastegate for releasing boost so early i got a Hallman ES boost controller from http://www.boostcontroller.com i turned the **** tightened the lock nut real tight and it was dead on at .4 bars.. GREAT! BUT! a couple weeks later it decides to reduce the boost to .2 bars... hmm what could be the problem here???... freakin...
so i decided to disconnect the vaccum line to the wastegate to test out if it's the boost controller/wastegate. so i took her out and was carefully building boost to .4 to .5 bars EASILY..... so what's the problem here???
thanks!

hmmmm, i hope that dont happen with mine , im putting in my hallman today , ill let you know if i encounter any probs, i have the same wg and spring too
ok the way my tial wastegate is hooked is through the side port and the top port is left open...
okay first for the wastegate alone i hooked the vaccum line up to the turbo compressor... .1 bars... i change the vaccumm line thinking there's a hole in it or something .... still .1 bars.. so instead i pluged up the compressor vaccum hole then hoooked it up to the intake manifold... .2 bars GREAT! but the spring is suppoed to be rated at .45 bars... thanks for your help guys
edit: i install another tial wastegate rated at .45 bars but now it's boosting .2 bars..STILL NOT UP TO PAR but more than my old tial wastegate stock... please help!! could it be a leaking vaccum line from the intake manifold??

? are you sure you have the corect springs int hese things?
are you sure the wg is seated correctly? not leaking . that can make a diff if the leak is bad enough

i'm pretty sure it's not leaking... i tried it with and without the gasket but i only got .1 to .2 bars both tries... the silver o- ring is installed also...

take it apart and check the psring for sure . it should be red for .45 bar.
it cant be sealing right, or the spring is wrong , thats my guess.

If you want to test the WG spring hook it to a pressure source like a bicycle tire pump. Use a vacuum T to hook in your boost gauge to monitor pressure. As you pump the bike pump, watch the boost gauge to see what PSI opens the WG.
The smallest Tial 35mm spring you can buy is .3 bar, FYI.
