I am currently looking to buy a b18c and a shop started to put darton sleeves in and supposedly the machinist quit and they put two sleeves in and left the other two sleeves about an inch up. can any one give me any advise on what to do. i would like to use golden eagle but not sure if they can remove what there and install theirs or do i need to find a reputable shop to try to figure out what the last shop never finished.

Are they mid sleeves or dry liners??

the guy told me they are dry liners but he is supposed to send me pictures.

Dry liners aren't really worth it, because the liner is still being supported by the stock aluminum casting, which is where the weak link is.

For a sleeve to be strong it needs to replace the entire stock casting, like the MID sleeves.

thats what i thought after getting the picture but my question is can i still finish having them installed cause im not sure if it is ok to leave two not pressed in and tork plated for so long

They would have to be pressed in.... there's no other way to do it

From your photo, it doesn't look like the sleeves are correctly aligned for installation.

The only way to do this to make certain you won't have issues is to remove all the sleeves, inspect the work and assuming the machine work was correctly done, reinstall the sleeves with new o rings and the proper grades of Loctite and then deck it.

If you want to send the block in to Darton I'll check it out for you and see what the deal is.

Kind of strange one would quit right in the middle of a sleeve installation.

Yea, I don't see why they pressed two in then stopped, very weird, unless there was a problem with the ,machine work and the last two sleeves cannot be installed


And you'll have on hell of a time trying to get the two installed sleeves out of the block... the loctite used to seal them is stupid strong... you'll need a serious heat source and a pretty big press, as well as some creativity.

This is the worst I've seen in a while. Call justice race engines. They have considerable experience with engine sleeving.

Steve thank you for seeing my post. I have no idea what happened to the machinist i picked this motor up and starting to worry me can you pm me a average price for you to look at my problem and try to fix.
