Darton Flanged vs M.I.D.
Ordered a few parts the other night for my build. I would really like to do something with the block to reinforce it (i.e. block guard or sleeve it).
Using a turbonetics T3/T4 hyrbrid, but shooting for around 300-350whp (best case scenario). Im going to be using Bisi 86mm 9:1 pistons which are 1mm over the stock bore of 85.
I see a lot of people almost making that amount of power, or actually doing it on smaller builds running higher PSI levels (B18's and b16's) on their stock sleeves. Im assuming their stock sleeves are the same as mine just different bore sizes obviously.
Bottom line would i be able to run that kind of power on my stock sleeves? Id love to get the darton MIDS but seeing as there about $600 and id only trust darton to install them, another $600 since i can drive to them. That almost doubles the cost of everything. Would i be fine running my stock sleeves? Id like this to be a build it once kind of thing and just drive it for years. I was also looking at the darton flanged sleeves as a cheaper alternative but i would still be open deck.
Ive read through the GIGANTIC guard or no guard thread and it looked pretty inconclusive... and everyone had their own sworn correct ways of installing the block guard (weld no weld etc.). Just would like a solid opinion from you guys thanks!

Oh wow okay good. I was sure it would work, but i wasnt sure if it would last. So the stock sleeves will do just fine even bored over 1mm?

If you got the money then do the sleeves....i got the darton mids...
i was making only making 400whp when i cracked my sleeve....then had to replace them
most people say youre safe till around 400...but realisticly id say to be safe keep it under 350 or so if youre on stock sleeves
if you plan on making more power down the road sleeve them now and save youreself the agravation later.
If you plan on running 86mm pistons you will need sleeves....i wouldnt go anything over 81.5 on stock sleeves...especially with turbo

^or if ur baller like me just buy the dart block and ur problems are solved actually im far from baller and took me two years of saving to buy my block lol. U should be fine on stock sleeves as long as ur not running high boost, but if u feel like ur goals might change down the road not a bad idea to go ahead and get some now.
