d16y7 turbo build help
Hey guys. I have a 97 Civic DX with a d16y7. The motor is in overall good conditon however since I plan to do a turbo build and shoot at around 300whp im gonna rebuild the motor.
Here is what I got planned out so far:
T3/T4 T04E Hybrid Turbo
YCP Vitara 75mm 8.5:1 Compression Pistons
Eagle Rods
Skunk2 Tuner Cam Gear
HKS SSQV BOV
OBX Wastegate
Mishimoto Intercooler & Possibly Slim Radiator
550cc Injectors (still unsure on brand)
Walboro Fuel Pump
Aftermarket Oil Pump
Arp Bolts
Main Bearings
Rod Bearings
Thrust Washers
New gaskets
Timing Belt
Downpipe to 3" straight pipe exhaust
Also gonna get a y8 intake manifold/TB and get the TB ported and polished aswell as the head.
Still not sure on how im gonna do my top end yet.
Still not sure how im gonna get it tuned.
Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Re: d16y7 turbo build help
I am pretty certail your compression wont be 8.5:1, using eagle rods and vitaras the compression is lower than that. Check the volumes on your combustion chamber after its built and it wont be 8.5:1, mine wasnt. Also dont order YCP pistons from ebay, trust me on that one I went through hell and back with that one.

Re: d16y7 turbo build help
After just finishing a build, I have some insight on this. Cevax is right, with eagles and vitara's, your compression will be more like 7.4:1. I went with FJ rods and from what I understand they are closer to 8.5:1 and will hold all of 300 or more.
My z6 with t04e spools fairly quick and will definitely get you 300whp. I made 280whp/240wtq on 14psi only revving to stock redline.
