+1

And for boost, there's nothing wrong with the pre-00 ITR cams, they just have 3 degrees less duration on the intake cam. or even save a buck or two hundred and use GSRs.

BTW, by the time you sleeve that fragile B16 block and conclude your build you are $300-400 away from owning a B18 block and having some actual midrange torque and a lot easier time making power.

I think it was Redzone Performance that switched from Blox cams to CTR cams and gained 100hp =/ Of course where that power became available was very high in the RPM range still...maybe I have that backwards...

yeah, we had a car gain 90whp going from the Rcams to the blox. setups will vary, but the blox cams are a lil more aggressive and would require valvetrain.

I used Blox B cams and made power gains all the way across the band from 4k to 9k peaking at 100whp more then stock R cams. but again, not every setup is the same and you will need to take that into consideration when building your engine and turbo setup.

Since when are b16 blocks fragile? Mine (stock sleeves) hands out 333whp on 91octane and i am comfortable with it up to 400whp, i have seen stock sleeve 500whp+ b16's... stock

EDIT: https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/honda-techs-highest-horsepower-stock-block-thread-%2Aofficial%2A-2036623/ 630!!!!!!!! not normal or recommended but you get my point im sure...

Yeah, I've tuned a couple 400+ ones, my peak for a stock sleeve B16 block is 540 whp. So? The only sleeves I ever have break are B16 sleeves, and my rate of failure is 50% of the engines that break 300. I've been tuning Hondas longer than a lot of people, and I've tuned a LOT of Hondas. That can't be a fluke, sir, and I'm sure you get my point.

interesting, i would have thought the opposite would be true due to the increased side loading of the longer stroke blocks (gsr and ls) but i guess there is more too it then that, maybe b16 owners rev there engines higher (guilty), maybe the b16's don't have as high QC or manufacturing standards on the blocks, who knows...

X2.

This is the first time I've seen someone else post actual first hand info like this, and it matches my experiences as well.

I've tuned 1000+ Hondas myself at this point, and the only block that stands out as having a high rate of sleeve failure issues is the B16 blocks. Nothing else ever breaks sleeves, not even the infamous "weak B20 block sleeves" issue.

50% failure rate above 300whp is about right. When you know the tune is right and the sleeves are breaking, it's gotta be the block.
