Funny enough, doing over 140Km is barely keeping up with traffic. And you're right, they crack down on ANYTHING modded, from the states or otherwise.

Lately, its been getting nerve-racking travelling up there.

Having radical punishment like that is only going to cause more people to run from cops and cause more accidents. That's worse than the **** they do in Virginia now.

I was thinking on way that we could shut off the turbo whenever we feel like it. This idea might sound stupid but it could work.
The only problem would be that I dont know if the part involved can take the heat.
The wastegate opens when the boost overcomes the spring tension right? What if you can find a way, that with a small electric air compressor and a electronic valve you can supply air to the wastegate and open it without using the turbo.
Just a flick of a switch and the wastegate is open.
Now you would have to route the dumptube into the exhaust and I dont know about the wastegate holding together because of all the heat flowing through it for a long period of time.
Stupid idea I know

(Am I right on this?) That is about 111mph. I drove those speeds going through London/Missasagua/Hamilton area. Even the cops there don't do much, but strangely enough, if you're from the states, have an exhaust or some way of making the car "different" you get profiled and pulled over for no reason IMHO.
</TD></TR></TABLE>

yes i do most of my spirited driving on the 401... if u do it on hwy 400 u are begging to get pulled over by OPP.. past milton to the west and oshawa to the east on the 401 the OPP do pull many ppl over but its only in the transiton from the city to the open empty countryside highway so u just have to know when to slow down a bit.. on my recent trip to montreal a month ago when my car was still NA i frequently sat at 200kmh..
in the city u can avoid getting pulled over if your car doesnt LOOK modded.. my civic is old and rusty looking with a crap paintjob and dirty stock prelude rims and i even painted my muffler flat black so it doesnt stand out.. i have only been pulled over once and that was because i dint turn my lights on..

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by akira712 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Actually cops are cracking down now in TO, they just put in a law 50km+ over the limit is an automatic vehicale seizure and 10K$ fine... the limit is 100km/hr or ~60mph. knowing i spent so much on my car if i see flashing lights in my rear view mirror after going 50km over the limit i dont think i will be pulling over.. and i have a feeling many other people will do the same.. the crown vic tops out at 187km/h.. and cant handle for ****.. so with a good driver in a civic with good suspension and 200km/h+ u can tell the cops byebye..
which bring me back to my original problem.. if i can sustain 180km/h for extended periods then one day when i see those lights flashing in my rear view mirror... i might not be able to get away

im glad im not the only one who notices this.. doesnt it **** u off when someone goes 100km/h in the middle or left lane?? i know so many people who justify it by saying well thats the MAXIMUM ur supposed to be going so i can be in this lane if i want.. they obviously dint pay attention in driving school when the instructor said keep up with the flow of traffic

Whay would be the point though? What would you be trying to accomplish? The reason the motor is boosting is that is what is takes to maintain that speed at that load in that gear. In other words, you'd have to downshift without the turbo.

You might get better gas mileage not spinning the turbo against a mostly closed throttle plate though..if it's spinning enough to build boost in the charge pipe..you're definitely getting some exhaust pressure in the manifold..aka "pumping losses"..I don't know. My old setup would do that on the highway, I know because I could dip the gas and have about 4-5lbs right away.

Cruising in boost is absolutely normal for most OEM turbo cars. It might seem like a bad idea in a Honda which has an aftermarket turbo, but as long as the crankcase is properly ventilated and the car is equipped with an oil cooler, there should never be a problem.

It doesn't just apply to canadians so watch, anyone from NYC/NJ area going 50Km+ over the speed limit in Toronto can be dealt the same ticket. There was a guy on vwvortex just had his r32 sized and impounded, 1500$ radar detector busted and the ticket vary from $2000 to $10000 depending on a stupid cops disgreation.

Is this just in Ontario? They actually crush your car, instead of auctioning it? What a waste. If I lived there, I'd have some kind of warning light flash inside the car to make damn sure I didn't speed. What brilliant politician came up with this stupid law?

haha no no what happens is they impound ur car for a week and then u get it back.. even if you are convicted of the ticket your car does not get taken away.. you just have to suffer a big fine and points.. in the case you win all you will have suffered is losing you car and lisence for a week

BUT if you are caught RACING which is NOT the same offence as just speeding over 50km/h...... THEN your car could be crushed.. and that would only be if ordered by the judge when you LOSE your trial....

OPP ya from what i see they have crown vics n some SUVS for the most part..
its PEEL region that came out with CHARGERS.. i guess u could be unlucky and get nabbed by one of those guys.. but i know PEEL and OPP beef about whose jurisdiction it is to control the highways.. and the truth is that its OPP's job.. the only highway i see where local police patrol and enforce is the DVP and 409 and its because the entire DVP and 409 lie within the Metro Toronto area.. im not saying u wont get nabbed on other highways by the local cops but its not thier job.. if they see a crime happening in front of thier eyes of course they would do something about it (but for the most part they just got onto the highway to get from point A to B faster just like you did).

I was just thinking that if you are scared of boosting on fifth gear because your car doesnt have a great tune.
Also if your car has the N/A power to go up a hill why use boost. Maybe I am just thinking more like, if you dont need the power all the time why not turn it off. Could make a nice sleeper car too. I dont know......
