Default Critique My Setup

Ok I'm starting to piece together a hopefully 400whp setup that is nonvtec. Here is what I've come up with

Stock B18B block w/ block guard and Z10 3 bolt block girdle
RS Machine Turbo Pistons
RS Machine Rods
Worked LS Crank(Stewart Racing Engines)
ARP Bolts throughout
LS Head ported/polished/5-angle valve job(Stewart Racing Engines)
Ferrea Valve
Crower Springs, Retainers, and 404s
DSM 450s or RC 550s
P-Fab Log Mani w/ Tial 38mm WG
T04e .63AR Turbo
3" DP
2.5" Intercooler Piping w/ Tial BOV
Large Front Mount
Aeromotive FPR w/ Gauge
Walbro 255 Pump
JG or Skunk2 IM

I'm shooting for 400whp maybe a lil more. Tuning will most likely be Hondata(gota check a few local tuners and see what they prefer).

Let me know if I should change anything around. The only things I have right now are the block, stock ls crank, Crower 404s, and mild port/polish LS head

i wouldn't use the block guard. if you want to use a block girdle its best to get it honed with it installed. you will DEFINATELY need bigger injectors if you plan on making anywhere close to 400whp.

i had a ls that made 403whp and 342wtq. it was sleeved and bored to 85mm though. head was fully built with all crower including valves and the 404s. it took almost 19psi on pump gas on a SC61 to make 400 and i was running open downpipe. if i were you i'd at least get some 880's. good luck and who needs vtec when you got a **** load of torque

"at least" 880s for 400 hp range? im going for a 400 minimum hp goal on some 750cc's on a sc61 also. I think if you want room for growth, 1000s would be a good choice but 750cc is good for 400 i believe?

its his choice theres nothing wrong with that besides vtec is only to save gas anyway so blah.

injectors should be cool with 750's also if you dont have a turbo yet look at some holset turbos

Whens the last time you saw a vtec head make 51 less tourqe than horsepower?
And I'm pretty sure anyone is going to want to do a valve job on a freshly rebuilt motor, vtec or not. In case some people hav'nt realized it yet, for a 400-500 whp goal the vtack is just not necessary. For the OP, your setup seems sound except for the injectors, I'm runnin 750 saturated and shooting for mid 400whp which is right in my compessors efficiency range for the time.

So the turbo should be ok? Or should I look into the SC61.

My main reason for not going with a vtec head is I got a screaming deal on a mild port/polished ls head. So I'm just gona have it finished. The cams were also a screamin deal along with the block.

Also, which injectors to run? I mean like brand. The car is gona run on boost alone for probably a month or so, so I can recoup some funds, and then its gona get a 75 shot.

So I should have the blocked bored and sleeved then? This build will probably take a few months but I want to do it right the first time.

u dont even need the nitrous for 400hp, or sleeving really. if you sleeve, you might as well go for a higher hp goal.
