Crazy smoking at idle...
My GSX(107,000mi) and 00Civic SI(turbo)(30,000 hard miles) do the same thing. Driving is normal, partial or wide open, but at idle oil smoke begins to develop. The longer it sits, the thicker the cloud. After driving around the smoke disappears. I go through a qt every 1000 miles in the Civic! Compression (JE 9:1) comes in low but consistent at 135psi (within 5psi in all 4cyl) in the honda and 130-140psi in the Mitsu. Leakdown on the Honda was around 15%.
So here's the question. I've been told turbo seals, valve seals, rings. Do I really need to fix all 3 or can anyone help me eliminate 1 or 2. Since I'm having the problem on both cars I have to think it's somewhat common. PLEASE HELP!!

I would take off your charge pipe from the turbo and see if there is any oil in the charge pipes - that would signify seals in turbo are bad. You can also take off the downpipe and look at the fins, if you see oil around there turbo needs a rebuild.

Also check your oil return line from the turbo. Keep in mind that this line is gravity fed so it has to be straight from the turbo to the pan with no loops in it. Good Luck.
