when you let off, car goes lean.
so who knows how "quickly" this happens in your set up.

maybe he did this https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=688903 . However, i am still skeptical about how well this actually works.

It cracked because it leaned out at full throttle. Once you let off the throttle the damage was already done...you just didn't know it. Happens that way all the time.

He isn't running the hack, just using the s-afc to add/subtract fuel and also using a missing link or check valves.

I still don't understand how his sleeves cracked after he let off the gas?
How are you suppose to control that?
Slowly ease up on the throttle or what??

LOL... Isn't it possible to cause preignition on decelleration after driving very hard. As fuel is cut back in accordance with your fuel maps as you let off the gas, the cylindrical temperatures are still extremely high and can cause preignition and cause some major damage even though you aren't full throttle. I read some domestic article on the issue, not sure if it applies directly since our methods of engine management are far more advanced than the typical domestic but I'm curious. Can decelleration fuel cut rates can play a role in causing engine damage after a hard run?

It is not working (making power). If the engine is working too hard under a lean condition acceleration (load), it will break. You just don't realize you hurt it until you are backing off the throttle.
Another way to look at it..when the engine is idle, even though it is way lean, it will not burn a piston. It will just shut off if there is not enough fuel. Why? Because it is not working under a load, not generating power.

good point earl. thats how you can get away at 17:1 idle ratios. and 14-15:1 cruising too.

Thanks for the clarification

What if throttle was reduced to say 50% after a hard run?

when i blew out my sleeve it was under hard acceleration in 4th gear, not letting off. it felt like i rear ended somebody it deccelerated so hard, i almost smacked my head on the steering wheel, good thing i wear my seatbelt

and its not like your block cracked out of no where im sure there were hairline cracks and stress fractures all over the walls that u were driving on for a while....sounds liek shitty tuning or the blaock had just seen its days if u ask me

junk. blockguards are only good at making the tops of the cylinders hot. most cracks dont start at the top anyway
