Default setting my tps

Alright I've read the articles and all and i know how to set my tps but i can't get it to work and i know it's because im an idiot and don't know how to work my voltmeter because not matter where i place the tps i get a reading of 1.3 and one last desperate hope when throttle is "closed" does that mean car is idling or off? please someone let me know how to work my freakin meter... thanx

The throttle is closed when it is shut, meaning you don't have your foot on the throttle. The car isn't idling but the key is on acc. Are you sure you are measuring the right wires?

The car has to be running to read and adjust the TPS.

wrong, so when you adjust WOT to 4.5 or whatever your gonna be sitting there bouncing off the rev limiter.

as long as you have the key at the on position it will work.

you can actually remove the tb and adjust it by measuring resistance through the tps.

When I set mine I set it to 0.45 like the manual said but I still had idle problems. I then measured the TPS on my stock TB (it was still set from the factory) and it was 0.32V.
So I set my new TPS at 0.32 and it has been fine ever since.

Do you have someone else you know with the same car so you can measure their TPS?

hmm,
maybe try the voltage Xsi used, .32V
he said it worked for him, its worth a shot at least!

btw i tried setting my tps today, and failed,
couldnt figure out how to get a reading off it...
i hooked a wire to one of the pins(pain in the butt to get the probe back behind the tb)
and used that to probe..
i put positive on that wire, and neg on lotsa stuf(batt pos/neg, various grounds) and got nothing but garbled readings bouncing around..

so dont feel alone.

oh btw about the closed throttle voltage,
I have a feeling, not 100% sure,
but I think the true objective is to get the voltage as close to zero, without going too low.
which maybe why Xsi's car ran better at .32 rather than the manuals .45

You obviously can't adjust it at WOT....this is why you adjust it at idle, knowing it should be at .49V completely closed at idle, you can't make any other adjustments...if it is messed up beyond adjustment, then you need a new one.

Think before you post!

hmm, never tried running it without the tps plugged in...

but considering how FUCKED it will be with the tps plugged in but not set correclty,
I doubt it'd even start.
who knows though, all depends on what the ecu does without the tps plugged..
maybe it has a default "ok but not great setting" i duno.

If your idle is steady but low just adjust the idle screw up the top of the TB until you get around 700-800 RPM

so you still get a tps code?
it could be the wiring, or the tps might neet replacing.

jump the service check connector,

turn ignition to ON
count the flashes,
long = 10, short = 1

so ____ _____ _ _ would be 22

tell us what you get.

'91 CRX Si B16A w/LSD

Your ecu has a light that will flash the codes, but as stated before long dash = 10 short = 1. TPS will 7 short blinks.

hmm,
you should be able to find the CEL checking process in a search somewhere,
theres even a video of the process floating around.
anyone doing their own honda maintenence should know this.

look it up in a haynes or something, if you can get a helms that'd be better.

http://www.integra.orcon.net.nz/ecucodes

On my car I didn't need to jump the connector since it's a 1990, you will find a grey plug that appears to go nowhere located behind the passengers kickpanel. You need to join the wires by sticking a paper clip in the plug.

Also yours will be on the other sie since mine is JDM

Ok, you must have a gen 1 b16 so you don't need to jump the connector. Since you're still getting the tps code that must be causing your stalling. Have you reset the ECU?
