Cracked Manifold
My drag manifold finally cracked all the way through. Is it going to burt anything besides performance driving like this until a new one comes in? Is there any good manifold that I can still use the same downpipe as my drag? Can my manifold be welded for the time being? If so what type of welded needs to be used?
Thanks

wow, how did you crack your drag manifold. Cast iron is harder to crack then others materials. And yes you can weld it back up. Yes it will hurt performance and it will hurt your engine bay. Your hood and engine bay is going to be charcoal black with enough miles. I drove around with a cracked manifodl for 1 month and to this day I still cant remove the carbon build up stains.

Re: Cracked Manifold (TurboTypeR98)
Can any muffler shop weld it? Is the inline pro manifold or the maxrev any better than one another? What better about each one?

muffler shop cannot weld it unless you use some kind of stick welder or tig or mig. a regular gas welder will melt the **** out of cast iron.
also cast iron is easy to crack. cast sucks. you want a tubular mani. much better.

I personaly find it very hard to weld onto casted manifold. We even tried baking it and the stupid welds wouldnt hold up. But it appears some people can do it.

i think anyone that does body welding should be able to do it. the worst that can happen is it will crack again. well if they dont know what they are doing than can melt the **** out of it.
