Default CP Pistons

What is sooo special about them, or are they a band wagon item now?

its not really bandwagon item it just that people used them with great sucess. It all user preference when it comes to this sport people do hype a product up which leads to mass information on the market. but when you look at it if the product works then people start to use it. It simple as that. People will use what works.

cp has been proven time and time again.

just because alot of people use them does not mean it's the new "bandwagon"

Some of the key people at JE left and helped form CP.

I wasnt saying CP pistons ARE a bandwagon item, just asking.

There has to be SOMETHING different with CP. Not all pistons can be exactly the same...

I have seen shops use only JE, only Ross. But never heard of CP until maybe a year ago on here.

I am sure Earl would have a technical answer.

Yeah I took a 2 year hiatus from reading this forum and I come back and everything is CP piston this, etc.

There are just trends, people do what everyone else does when it works. I guess that's a bandwagon... but it's a practical bandwagon ...

CP has only been around for a few years. They do have a high quality piston.I followed the Calverts when they started CP.This doesn't mean I don't use others ,but my comfort level is high with CP.Ross was one of the first with a lot of import apps so a lot of builders started with them and still use them.

CP has a million dollar minature laser just to measure inside the ring lands for flatness. They do an expensive double cut on every ring land just to insure perfectly flat lands. That precision is what gets you zero leakdown. The real things that make CP's better are not seen by the eye but by how precise the machine work is. I wish I could say more but I signed a confidentiality agreement. BTW, you can eat off the floors of their shop.
