Default CP Pistons and Earl

CP Pistons and Earl

I would like to give Earl some overdue credit for bringing CP pistons to H-T.

As you know both Earl and I are distributors for CP. So far all my customers that have used CP pistons have seen exceptional peformance in the area of ring seal and durability not to mention wieght savings over other makes.

CP FI shelf pistons are kicking *** in many peoples motors. I know they are the new favorite brand at TrackMasters. When asked what he thought of them, Eric at TrackMasters said "They good, they held up" meaning they held up to mis-shifts and alot of abuse.

Many top racers now use CP as evidence by the Laskey's and Leslie Dursts.

Just some eye candy to end my post.

Credit to earl - but much credit and thanks to you too for working with me on getting a custom piston made for my application.

I've been trying for over a year to find someone to help me get these made. Money wasn't the problem - it was the lack of competence and attention I'd get everywhere else I'd go. Rocket came through. It's rare you deal with someone that exceeds expectations - well mine at least.

Thanks to both of you

Darius is the import guy there at CP and he seemed very attentive to suggestions. I tried to tell him to set up a 14:1 stock shelf piston, but I don't think he will.

Usually 14:1 pistons are used in a higher dollar build and going custom allows you call out the CH, valve pocket size and depths to make the piston purpose built for the high dollar high hp build.

does CP manufacture overbore pistons? Or do they have to be custom made? If so does it cost additional?

Here's CP's import catalog page of there shelf stuff

CP Import Catalog

Custom pistons are about $80 to $100 more per set of four depending if you want.

Here are some options available:

-strutted forging
-custom lighthening
-vertical or lateral gas porting of the top ring
-diamond like coated and cryoed pins
-low tension oil ring

Weight tolerance is within a gram so balancing is not necessary.

Not true. CP shelf is designed to last. When you have better ring seal everything lasts longer.
