Default CP, JE, and Wiseco

I tried to search, but the words are too short.

Question: Can anyone list the differences in quality and/or performance between these three pistons? It will be for a "higher" power application....I want to keep it around 600whp. Range would be 550 absolute minimum and about 650 maximum.

I have to agree!! My new build up is using Arias 83mm slugs in my Golden Eagle sleeved GSR! Tom Jung is a very helpful guy at Arias too!

So you guys would suggest the arias pistons then huh? There is still time for me to decide I guess. The motor is going out on wednesday, and I am just looking for as more reliablity than a huge number on a screen as possible (even though I am looking for about 600whp). Thanks for the help guys.

I've used Arias personally.

All of the "big" companies, CP, Wiseco, Arias, JE, etc, will do the job just fine. Its more or less personal preference. Tom at Arias is VERY helpful.

Arias pistons are the heaviest of the bunch (according to a test conducted by IB). I would go with Wiseco. That's what I have. Endyn pistons are also great.

Call Arias and ask for lighter pistons?

heavier piston means one of 2 things...more dense metal or more meat on piston

either way on all three pistons the ringlands will go one day

Everyone I know runs Wiseco from everything from 300whp to over 500whp. Free skirt coating and the lightest off all the pistons. Not to mention good price, btw, I work for Wiseco, heeh

I would and do run CP's. Wouldn't change to any of the others as long as I have a choice.

Well is there any proof or comparisions to show me which piston is better. Or some literature describing pros and cons of each piston? I would just like to be able to read about each one to make an informed decision. Ooor is this all just a personal choice/preference?

if you have turbo you shouldnt have to worry about a few extra grams.

There are certain tests that can be done to test pistons, but honestly it is personal choice. I would run any of the others if I was sponsored by them and got them from for free or really cheap, but since I pay like everyone else, I run CP's.

I beat the living crap out of my JE pistons with 2 different builds...never smoked, never gave out on compression numbers. Then again I have used CP pistons with great success too.

All of the company's make there top of the line piston from 2618 alum alloy.... That material is used in most high end apps but it expands and contracts more than other piston materials meaning "wear"... Where the meat is, "how thick the crown is and the skirts." has to do with the different manufacturers, differences in ringland placement, i forget the term but the holes wiseco pistons have where the oil ring goes "for faster break in". There are different designs and thats about the only things that make them unique. All are good forgings for the kinda power you want, it has a lot to do with personal preferance.
The pistons that are made to make the most power arent the ones that will last 100,000 miles. Most people that make alot of power and have a built engine dont rely on the car to be daily driven. I have always heard good of CP also and i will use those.
P.S check into piston ring stuff because there are pro's and cons to a moly ring vs. and chrome ring. C-ya on CSS
