Default Could it be wastegate?

Hey fellas I just had a question on a problem I'm trying to solve. So I got my new Turbo installed last night. We put everything back together and went for a spin around the block. I started to get into it and everything was fine then all of a sudden I can here Turbo spooling but not building any pressure for Boost. Pulled over to check everything and seemed fine. Took car back to garage and everything seems fine oil ,couplers, etc.

So I was wondering could wastegate be stuck open?

Thanks fellas

You probably forgot the fire ring for the wastegate. Google it if you aren't familiar with it.

I have fire ring back in. Made sure we did that. Also when I took it around the block and pulled over to check stuff. Turbo had smoke coming off of it. But not a ton. Just as if it was burning oil off or something. Good this be something bad?

install a pressure check valve saved me a lot of time and heart ache.
presurize the system pretty cheap and easy way to find out if you have any leaks.

a brand new turbo's turbine housing may be burning off the casting coat that comes new on it. It'll burn off and you'll see exposed oxidized iron.

Sounds like an exhaust leak around the wastegate, turbo area.

Always a good thing when you chime in!!! What is best way to test or check for leaks?

Thanks for everyone's help. I just had it tuned like 3 weeks ago and made 365whp and turbo had bad seals. Now I'm just trying to get running right after new turbo install.

Thanks again fellas

A boost leak tester would be optimal, but most are custom made. I'm still thinking what else you're missing here.

This may sound ridiculous, but if you were to block off the turbo outlet hose and open the intake valves and throttle body, could you use a leak down tester to pressurize the intercooler piping to check for a boost leak?

THere's always going to be some amount of leakage in an intercooler, by design. But any leaks or cracks could be evident without a pressure tester specifically for piping.

It could be a collapsing vacuum line. Its a point someone needs to video the checks. But he needs to start acting now, and stop speculating, so it can be narrowed down.

I found my Problem. Piping came lose.
Thanks for the help fellas
Now I'm out driving it. And when I get on it and start switching thru gears sometimes it will not do anything when I give it gas, Motor still runs but can't accelerate. But when I down shift and give it a min it's fine again. Could that be when they tuned it they set the fuel cutoff at a point in Rpms?

Also my coolant overflow levels went up way past the max line and look like it blew some out in engine bay. What would cause this? Thanks again. You guys really helping me get car back out there
