recommended ignition setup for high boost application
recently had my civic tuned for VP112 and at the high boost levels the car was breaking up pretty bad. the tuner had to gap the plugs down a bit and said i should look into a new ignition system. what's out there now that would be good for my current setup. right now i'm at 556whp on 32lbs of boost.
Waste of money as you can build it yourself and save a couple hundred dollars. If you have proper wiring laying around you can build it for around $550 retail. If not, then maybe $600 at the most if you buy quality wiring.
That is not very much HP, but pretty high pressure... either way the typical aftermarket CDI box of your choosing will work just fine. Couple it with the supporting coil and required cap & rotor, you will be good to go. While you are at it, it would be all for naught if you didn't install a ignitor bypass. The M&W Pro 10 will skip that last step though. What exactly are your plugs gapped down to and what did you start with? You do realize that on ANY boosted setup you are going to have to gap the plugs down some?
In my personal opinion the stock distributor is solid for around 400-500whp depending on how much heat soak and boost is being ran. Basically since you didn't give a budget it is hard to give you a good direction to go.

Coil on plug.
If you are using Hondata already even better. You just need the $400 coil pack retrofit, RSX-S coils, and coil plate. Its a little of an investment but it will make all ignition problems go away.

it's still all up in the air as far as a budget. i never drive the car so i'm debating just selling it the way it is now, get a new turbo setup or get the new ignition system and keep the car. money isn't going to be that big of an issue because i'll be saving for it over the winter.

I had other issues. I had nine bad boost leaks. I think I could have gone over 700whp without any ignition issues. It's brand new honda oem ignition. We gapped it low from the beginning not because of ignition issues
