Default cooling probs

i just helped install a turbo on one of my friends 96 civic 2 door. it has the 1.6 sohc vtec with a itty bitty turbo(i dont know what it is but it came off of a 2g rx7 i think- it spools at like 2250 rpm). he's running 6-7 lbs with a vortech fpr, and a front mount that stretches across the whole bumper support... he said it was getting really hot really quick, but it would never peg out the temp needle. any quick suggestions/ tips?

maybe the ic is blocking all of the air. tell him to remove the upper grill in the bumper and see if that helps a little. i took mine out a long time ago.

hook up a switch, have the fan running whenever the car is on...

The fan switch is a good trick, but don't fully do the job.

Me and a pal of mine are running restrictor type plates in our thermo housings instead of the regular thermostat.

Anyway I did mine tonight and the engine runs way cooler, my buds is the same way.

I just cut the guts out of the old thermo, then welded a washer on the round housing with approx a 3/4 hole to semi restrict the flow and vola.

I'm sure you could prob get a washer to fit, the only prob I could see is the actual width.

(Car is not winter driven)

Cheers
