Default Radiator cooling fan switch???

so my 96 accord is overheating while idoling, the fan is not coming on during that time, but if i have my AC on its on and temp is fine. And when i turn off car the fan kicks on as well. Im thinking the switch thats on the thermostat housing or checking the thermostat its self??? What would you say it could be?

Default Re: Radiator cooling fan switch???

The switch on the t-stat is where I would start. Using the 4 cyl spec's, I assume that is what you have, the switch should colse - continuity across the two pins - when it gets to ~194F.

One thing I would want to be sure of is that there is not any trapped air in the cooling system. If there is a pocket of air where the switch is this will throw its "reading" of the temp off and cause the switch not to close......there is a bleeder screw on/near the t-stat housing that is used to bleed the air out of the system.
