Default Confused on MSd 2 step hook up

The first set of instructions are what I am trying to do are here ( http://www.msdignition.com/pdf/pn8739-8737.pdf ). I just dont understand when it says hook the other part of the switch to the line lock or trans -brake solenoid. Lol, do I buy this or is it already on the car. If so can someone give me some detail instruction on how to run this. Thanks Rod

there is a few ways you can do it. One way it to wire it to your clutch so the two step is engaged everytime the clutch is pushed in. Which kind of sucks if you can not shift fast.

Then next is to hook it up with a relay to the ebrake this way you can preload your drivetrain and the two step will only be on when the ebrake is on. Only problem is sometimes the ebrake does not go down all the way and your two step does not shut off.

Third is just wire it to a switch. This is what I ended up doing after my ebrake was giving me issues. Power to one side of the switch and the line from the two step to the other side and you are good to go.

Do a search for my user name in FI as a creator and search term msd. A guy posted a really nice diagram on how to wire it up to the ebrake using a relay and so on.

Hope that helps.

Just hook it to a switch that you put on your shifter.. Mine is taped to the front of my shifter on the shift lever itself.. You want it in a place you can get to it and still keep your hands near the shifter..

You can also hook this to a line-lock if you have one so you can preload the drivetrain and when you let off your 2-step will turn off and so will you line lock..

basically if I hook it up to a switch by the shifter. Lets say I am at the line. I flip the switch to activate the 2 step. Then the light turns green to go, I floor it run through first...do I flip it off while going to 2nd gear?

The two pills you put it. Do you put in the pill you want to launch at and for the second port a pill for your rev limiter?

You turn the switch off as soon as you launch or it will be banging off your two step. The whole purpose of the two step it to build boost before taking off. When the two step is on and you floor it, it will bang off the rev limter you have in the first module. So lets says that is 4k. When you turn the switch off it will rev to your second pill lets say 8k. Unless you want to get really bad 60 foots and be banging off your low rev limiter in 1st you really want to shut if off as soon as you launch.

I have mine on a momentery(sp) switch that way as soon as I let go the switch is off.

Pill you want to launch at in the first pill.

pics of the diagram the guy posted? I think I have a printed copy at home.

The way I have mine run right now is just on a switch connected to my shifter. This way i can hold the button down and also hold the sifter in gear.

Thats more or less for a ricer nitrous button.. I mount mine on the front of my shifter so I dont have to hold the shifter to press the button.. I tried holding the shifter and the button but found out that when I launched that I would pull the car out of gear on a launch.. Just mount a simple easy to press button on the front of your shifter so you can push it with your pointer finger and then reach up after the launch and grab the shifter.. when you let off the clutch also let off the 2-step at the same time..

I just went to radio shack and bought a red push button switch I think it was like 2 bucks. I then took a little piece of metal and drilled two holes in it. One for the button and one to go on the shifter. I unscrewed my shift **** put the metal on and screwed the shift **** on. I know it is mad ghetto but it works. I mounted it there b/c when I launch hard my car was poping out of gear. This way I can hold the shifter and also keep my finger on the button.

The button I got was also from Radio Shack.. Its a 2 pack that comes with a red and black switch.. Mine is zip tied and electrical tapped to the front of the shifter.. On the AEM unit I have an option to rig it to the vss so it will be active under a certant speed which is the best way to run it I think..

My vss isnt working now so thats why I have a button..
