Wastegate? I DONT HAVE ONE?
Being the forced induction noob that I am, I ran 1 week before I noticed that my wastegate doesn't go anywhere.. it just shoots soot at my motor.. is that okay in any way shape or form? I dont hit boost a lot since I'm still waiting on the final tune, and I'm wondering if thats okay/safe to run..?
Thanks for any insight..

wha? what do you mean by " my wastegate doesn't go anywhere"
it probably shoots soot because you need to pipe it out somewhere like through the downpipe.

2 things....
you have your wastegate exit pointed towards your engine.. turn it around and make a dumptube for it...
the wastegate shoot "waste" exhaust gassed out of the exhaust side...
you have connected your wastegate to a boost only source... make sure it's connected to a vacuum source...

also.. isnt the gasket between the manifold and turbo going bag?... cuz you say it's blowing exhaust under the turbo....

couple things wrong i see in your picture.
you need to flip the wastegate around so that it dumps facing the other way. have someone fabricate a dump tube for the wastegate and route it into the exhaust system or dump it under the car.
by doing so you will need to have someone modify that charge pipe going from the turbo to the intercooler. they need to make it clear the wastegate dump and attempt to keep the silicone coupler away form the turbo and down pipe. its just a matter of time before it melts.
who installed this stuff for you?

Wtf, I hope a garage didnt install that like that.. ridiculous. You're going to have to change your charge piping around because you cannot run a dump the way things are set up.

technically this is how you're supposed to hook them up...to a boost only source. If it is to a vacuum source, the diaphragm in the inside contorts under vacuum and is then put under more strain when the pressure reverses and boost is incurred. Leave the boost/vac line as it is...

This is correct. What's with all the bad information in this thread? Why do people talk like they know when they don't?
Look at Tial's instructions, you are supposed to connect the back port to a source before the throttle body, so it doesn't see vacuum. It's hooked up correctly. The top port is only used if you are using a boost controller.

Re: Wastegate? I DONT HAVE ONE? (AssItch1)
sorry if this sounds noob, but why do I want to turn it around?is it so that i can fix the charge piping to the silicone coupler sitting on the turbo? because I think I can run the dump tube straight down and have the waste release right around the oil pan if the other stuff isn't an issue.

ill check clearance and measure out everything right after breakfast... im only okay with this because its sunny so i can drive the 2ndary

Another consideration is that you can't have too tight of a radius with that dumptube...if the exhaust gas can't get out of it, you'll have boost spike/creep issues which usually result in a blown engine

Re: (Schister66)
i was actually thinking of getting a local machine or muffler shop to make a new piece thatll face downward. thanks for the warning though, much appreciated. i also stay out of boost since it isn't final tuned yet
