Default Compression Test Results, WTF?? Too high?

Ok, I have a fully built turbo H22 motor I have been building for my race car... I am not new to building engines at all... but I am kinda confused with this one. I have been cranking the motor with no plugs in it to prime the engine for oil pressure and its all good... then I put the plugs in and crank just for the hell of it and hear a funny sound... scares me but turns out to be the rebuilt starter is kinda fucked up... just for the hell of it even tho the engine has NEVER been run once, I decided to compression test it.

205-210 psi. I have never poured oil down the cylinders or anything, I wonder if this is just from the oil on the walls from assembly? I have never compression tested an engine before ever even running it. The compression ratio is supposed to be 9:1 with these CP pistons, and they were definatly dished.

Any ideas wtf its so high?

thanks

Yea, that's about right, but AFTER break in. Hmmm, I guess it's because of what you said, the oil on the walls and rings from installation.

my b18c1 block w/ 84mm pistons did about 175 across the board and the engine was dead cold when i did it.. so since your block is a little bigger then i think what you got is about right

Default

after running the motor the compression test numbers are 190psi across the board that sounds more normal to me for a 9:1 2.2L
