motor is a usdm b18c5 motor

compression was as follows:

cyl 1 -210
2 -125
3 -210
4 -210

as you can see, the compression for cyl 2 was very low compared to the other 3. i put in a cap of oil and checked the compression for that cyl again. it went up to 210.

the car still gets up and goes and pulls still. i have no oil light on, no check engine light on either. i no signs of a blown headgasket and i have no oil on the spark plugs.

could a bent valve have anything to do with that cyl being low on the compression?

the car was running fine and doing good. i just did a compression test to see what the numbers would look like and thats how they turned up.

any ideas?

i thought if the rings were going bad, i would have oil on my plugs and smoke coming out the exhaust, i have neither.

Most likely your rings are just fine.


However, your ring lands are cracked. You wont get any smoke just an off sound in the exhaust and shitty compression until you add oil.

The bent valve wouldn't change the compression when the oil was added. The problem is where the oil is making contact. Ringlands.

Nope, the rods are bent. If it was then the car would have some serious starting and problems and it just wouldn't run.

IS YOUR RINGS I BET YOU THROUGH BLACK SMOKE ONLY AT HIGH RPM, THAT'S THE PROBLE CAUSE IT HAPPEND TO ME BACK IN THE DAYS...

yeah...the car threw black smoke, but that because the ecu is a kenji chipped ecu.

Don't know about bent rods. But, I cracked 2 ringlands on the #3 the car ran and started fine. Like I said the only thing was the Idle sounded off, more like a WRX rather than a civic.

The only difference was mine was 210 205 90 210

with a cap of oil added 210 205 225 210
