Default Compression question and rod question......

With a jdm itr motor and 11:1 what type of head-gasket would you reccomend for some-1 going boost. With that said, what kinda compression would that drop it to.

Also, the itr motor has weak ring-lands for boosting. With that said does any-1 know what kinda power the stock rods can handle? Any-1 running lower compression pistons with stock rods and stock sleeves on there Itr's?

300whp is the goal but heard it wont last on stock itr pistons. I may consider just boosting on the stock motor until the pistons take a crap then doing it. not sure yet, seeking more info.

Boosting on a budget. Going with greddy 18g kit. Either stock itr motor with lower comp head-gasket. Or New pistons, stock rods, arp head-studs, acl bearing kit, slight honet.

on average, for every .010 reduction in gasket thickness yeilds about a .3 increase in compression and visa versa...make sure you get a headgasket that matches your bore size

but 11:1 compression is pretty high...ive seen boosted stock type r motors but they run low boost...my friend ran 5psi on his and ran mid 13s all day on a t3/t04e on street tires

You will need to get it tuned very well regardless of what you decide to do, but with a goal of 300whp I would try to get it down in between the 9-10:1 range at least. Greddy kits are over priced for what you get (like all pre-fab kits), so if your on a budget build your own turbo kit.

i know greddy kits are expensive when brand new, but when used i can pick up a entire kit for $1200 with bov, intercooler ect. Basically i can get everything i need with extra for under $1300 with low mileage and good condition. Plus it keeps my ac and power-steering and with a quick spool will be a blast to daily drive which is what my car is used for. Hardly every tracked, just driven around town but sometimes ive got a heavy foot.

Ive already got fuel management taken care of so id rather spend $1200 on a used greddy kit then 2k+ for a custom kit. Im still debating wether or not to do pistons first or not. I think im gonna just boost on a greddy kit, tune for 240whp daily driving boost level, and then high boost about 280whp. Shouldnt really need 300whp and thats kinda pushing it anyways. Probably gonna run the stock motor till the pistons need replacing then do the bottom end.

if i can get 12+ months on my type r boosted at 280ish whp daily driven ill be happy
