Default Compared 18G to T3/T04E. . .

they actually dont look too terribly different to the untrained eye. Despite the larger compressor side of the T3/T04E the turbine looks kinda similiar. I'll see if I cant get some of the side-to-side pics up.

On a side note, my 18G needs a rebuild. Sucks b/c its cracked under the poppet that controls boost. So it really needs a new compressor housing. . .but we'll see how long it lasts. I talked w/ a nice guy a http://www.turbochargers.com and he said everything else checked out alright, so wish us (me and my friend who will be getting my turbo) luck.

by raw weight, the garrett t3/t04e felt much heavier than the 18g. sorry i cant give any more objective info.

the mass of the compressor/shaft/turbine assembly seemed a bit lighter as well, since both wheels are physically smaller and have less mass further from the shaft they were easier to spin.

at idle, the 18g spins quite freely, never mounted the t3/t04e though.

I weighed both of them on our digital scale in my bathroom (not too terribly accurate, but close none the less) and there was only a 4 lb. difference. The T3/T04E has a 60.AR on the compressor side, and .63 on the turbine side.

I think you did. I think they look VARY similar except for the obvious internal wastegate/ compressor housing. The GReddy weighed in at 14lbs. and the Garrett at 18lbs. I started to worry that I purchased too small a turbo

yeah i could believe 4-5lb difference actually. i almost dropped the t3/t4 a couple times being a klutz so i was really careful with the 18g

umm the turbine housing the inlet (where the intake goes) is larger on the 18G. *shrugs shoulders*
