Default Common problems upon first startup...

I am going to (hopefully) finish up my Drag3 install this weekend. I want to make sure I'll have everything I need to get my car up and running again.

Basically, everything is mounted and installed except for the feed line which I now have to replace since the fitting on the line is cracked due to using an NPT fitting in the turbo. Aside from a couple downpipe and manifold-->head bolts being impossible to tighten (how the hell can you get to some of those?), I will hopefully be ready to fire it up and deal with other oil/boost issues.

My question is, upon starting it up the first time, what are some common issues you run into? Im going to get an oil pan gasket this week just in case, and want to know if there is anything else I should pickup that I may need to deal with a common leak or other problem since Ill be doing it on a weekend when everything is closed.

Any suggestions? What are some common issues?

when i first started mine it smoked a lot from the turbo mani area, dont worry about this, it is from all the new metal heating up and u prob driped some **** on the turbo that is burning off like oil cos that was what mine was from. Just use common sense, take it easy for at least 100 miles and periodicly while getting gas or whatever look under the car to make sure nothing is leaking. when u first start it let it idle for a while to make sure all the oil fittings arent leaking other than that have fun and congrats on the turbo

the bolts are easy, just get as tight as you can by hand, then use a box end wrench and tigten then slowly but surely. You can get like an 1/8th of a turn every time... but it eventually gets done!

Thats basically what I did...very time consuming! Theres still the one on the dp that is right under the bend that I cant get to, as well as the top right manifold nut that I guess Ill have to use a stubby to get to.

gearwrench has those new rachet style wrenches, very nice for those tight spaces where your turn is to a minimum

carry a couple quarts of oil for the first few weeks, incase of big oil leaks.

Zip ties, incase vacuum lines pop off, especially off wastegate, make sure they stay on.

screwdriver for piping clamps in case the pop off.

misc nuts and bolts, that fit various key parts of the kit, such as turbo manifold, downpipe, wastegate, blowoff etc...

it may seem like alot, but it really isnt

for everyones downpipe issues, are you guys using regular bolts? I have found a bunch of allen head type bolts work great in tight places cause you use an allen wrench to tighten them. Ace hardware rulez.

Oh, those racheting wrenches are the shiznittywittybackflip, I got the crafstman just in case I break one the store will replace immediately.

thats cool good idea, just a thought though i know Ace has hardened bolts but they might have hardened allen head screws too, if they do i would go with those
