closed deck sleeving??
I wanna know if it would be a lost of cash if I sleeve my h23 wich is closed deck...
i'v done some search and it look like sleeving my block would be the best for me, because I intend to make at least 400whp on daily driving and a bit more on drag. But some say that it would be like throwing my $$ out the window for a small difference.

Re: closed deck sleeving?? (JSMC)
It depends on what plans you have for it. NA or turbo and if you plan to build up the internals etc. My block was sleeved by GE, why dont you try giving them call.

Re: closed deck sleeving?? (Prelude Vtec 23)
turbo, and about 15psi of boost on daily driving, and i'm beginning this project frome the beggining, the engine is right now in pieces and want to change all the internals that would be necessary, crank/rods/pistons, for the head (h22a vtec)I just don't know if the cam for turbo would be a good buy or not :s

Re: closed deck sleeving?? (Prelude Vtec 23)
GE charges 850 for sleeving
darton charges about 900
benson's charges 950
Rs also does sleeving but i'm not sure of the price
If you don't wanna send out your block to get sleeved, then you can buy exospeed sleeves for 290 then take it to one of your local machine shops for them to install them.

Re: closed deck sleeving?? (Greyout)
definately sleeve it.
why the h23/h22 hybrid... seems like alot of money for the minimal difference it would make. given a h23 hybrid make good low end and yes more power than the base non-vtec h23 but it can come at quite a cost. not to mention the reliability is still very much a toss up.
just my 2 cents and you dont even have to read it but there is a h23 VTEC that came in the 6th or 7th gen overseas accord wagon model... honda even worked the bugs out for you already. they are cheaper than building one too.

Re: closed deck sleeving?? (twkdCD595)
lol it's because of the low cost of the engine i've bought it!!
it was a hell of a good deal, i paid 1000$ can (so 700$ us) for this
-h23block no crack with stock interns
-h23 head with the intake, throttle body, fuel rail
-h22 head wich has been totally cleaned up
-16 new valve
in fact that's what I have (plus sensor of course, but not shown)
