Default chunks of ringlands

well, i had a thread earlier about what happened

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1634898

well, we ripped it apart, and i busted the ringlands on 8psi........

cylinder 1

cylinder 2

cylinder 3

and cylinder 4 had a hairline crack..

the rings were fine too

we did find a block guard on the bottom end tho

what a good excuse to build a bottom end

where is a good spot where i can learn how to tune?

what do you mean what was my tune like? i get so many differnt opinions on how to tune etc etc, i want to learn how to do it myself so i can have a say in it next time around. i just dont get what taking timing out does, and how that affects egt's, and how many degrees do what blah blah blah, i also dont understand where to start with fuel maps. do you just start it at target afr's and then work your way up in the rpm range?

chances are you may have had a stock motor that was probably beat up on a bit, especialy if you "found" a blockguard, someone put it there for a reason.

ringlands usually go from too much timing, too lean of a condition, both.

think of timing like this: if you pull too much timing the combustion takes place later, and this is evident in DSMs, so much that thier manifolds start to glow because most of the combustion is taking place towards the exit, or almost in the manifold

add to much and it starts to happen the other way, ie: towards thei ntake side, but with both of these very different conditions, it plays a huge part on our motors moving parts
