how do i check it a turbo is good or bad on the bench? it's used of course. there is little shaft play and it does spin freely. Is there any other things i can check to figure out what shape the unit is in? any tips?

Look for cracks in the exhaust side and also look for chipped or damaged fins on the wheels.

 

thanks smooth... there are no chips on the fins or anything like that. im must worried about when i bolt this sucka up and it smokes or something. anyway, thanks again... alittle more assurance.
