Hi, i wanted to know if anyone could tell me what exactly to check before buying a used turbo kit, later this week i'm gonna go check out the edelbrock performer x turbo kit that this guy is selling, which was used for 2 or 3 months, i know there are things to check for like shaft play, which i dont fully understand how to check for that, some advice would really help. What else should be checked on the kit ? thanks ??

look for side to side shaft play and also look for in and out shaft play on the turbine. Another thing to do is look in both sides and see if there is oil or oil residue inside which would indicate blown seals.



This turbo is mildly used and has no shaft play and just by looking you can get an "idea" (its not certain) but you can kinda tell that there is no oil residue so the seals should be ok. Post pics of it on here and the amount of free play you feel in it. There is a little bit of free play in the turbo from the factory, but it is VERY minimal.......just know the shaft isn't solid, it has to move
