I have two check engine codes..ones a 17,and a 22..speed sensor and vtec ...My speed tachometer is goin crazy when i step on it or when i drive it normally..sometime it dont even work..and i think my alternator is bad..could this be the problem because it not gettn enought voltage to the vtec selenoid,and the speed sensor..please help me..i got a event coming up..thanks

 

Check your fuses under the dash. The VSS and alternator run off the same fuse so it's likely you've blown it if you're having both those symptoms. I believe it's a 15 or 7.5amp fuse.

 

what about code 22?can it be the alternaotor bad ?

 

I don't have my ECU code chart handy right now. What's the error for a code 22? Any chance it's the ELD circuit?

 

its the vtec selnoid and switch

 

Do you have a VTEC controller? The ECM will sometimes throw a 22 if you've adjusted the VTEC engagement away from the stock point significantly.
