Changing vtec engagement on turbo application?
I'm currently getting all my parts together to boost my civic. I plan to use this setup:
T3/T4 hybird turbo
Custom portmatched manifold and downpipe
Probably Tial wastgate
~440 injectors (RC)
Apexi AFC
Greddy profec B boost controller
Spearco/Greddy/Griffen Intercooler
Greddy BOV ( possible )
And all the rest of the necessary stuff to make it happen. I want' to run 10psi on this motor. Well probably 7-8 on a low setting and 10 on the high setting.
I want' to know if there might be a chance I would need to change my vtec crossover with this turbo setup. I dont' know if I want to get the Apexi Super AFC or the Apexi Vtec-AFC. There's only a $40 difference between the two really, but the little stuff adds up.
Has anyone else here has to change it?
PS. where the heck do I get custom piping , since I don't think a 'kit' will work since I have a swapped motor.
Any help?

no you don't need to change the vtec crossover point and you can get pipes to use for your setup at http://www.jcwhitney.com this site tells you some part #s for them among all the other usefull information http://coolazz.tripod.com/turbo.html.
If you wanted someone to do the piping for you, then, I don't know.

When he goes to DYNO it he'll find out if he should change the vtec point. You just can't assume that his powerband is going to be a smooth ramp like stock with-out actually DYNO'ing it.

What is this crap?
Re: Changing vtec engagement on turbo application? (tzsir)
i've really pondered whether it would be advantageous to make vtec engagement dependant on boost instead of rpm....since i could make it that way if i wanted.
like maybe engaging vtec early if you're trying to spool quickly at low rpm
and not engaging it at all if you're in vacuum
any thoughts anyone?
i might try it with the ems and see how it performs

In my experience, lowering the vtec engagement does not help.
In fact, i found that the vtec point is not as critical as it is in a N/A
car. I would just leave it stock, or wait for dyno.
