Catch can smoke/steam(video)
I read that its normal to have some steam/smoke coming from your catch can and I'd like to know if the ammount that is coming from mine is normal or if I should be concerned about blow by. Motor is a dohc zv mildly built for boost but has not seen any boost yet. 15-20 000kms on the motor. Anyway heres the video.

The video was taken at idle after a few good revs.

Re: Catch can smoke/steam(video)
It has a catch can because it's getting boosted. Good to hear that this happens to others and all is good, I'm pretty sure I'm running rich also, i can smell quiet a bit of unburnt fuel alot of the time. Still going to a compression test in the near future. Gonna also do an oil change then drive it a bunch to see if I'm loosing any oil. Hopefully I won't have to do a rebuild before it even see's boost haha.

x2 For those people who said their motor doesn't have blow by is rubbish. New motors have blow by thus the pcv system.
Try this, open you oil cap while your engine running hot or cold, I'm highly sure that air would puff out. And the fact that our cars have over head cams means that as those cams are turning it displaces air, in which you feel puffing out. I tested this on my dad's new mazda 3, It puffs out air like my accord. I tested my friends LS3 & LS5 V8's & no air coming out since it is push rods.

Not saying they don't , but a leak down test is a good way to see how well the engine is sealing. A small percentage is leak down is ok, but once you start passing that number you know something is up with that cylinder.
