Can a turbo obd2 civic pass emissions
I have an 00 civic si with a built gsr swap. As of right now I have a chipped p28 ecu which obviously won't pass obd2 emissions.... Is there any possible way to make it pass emissions and keep the turbo?

To answer the OP: No you will not pass a emission's test, they will fail you for not having a cat, if you have a CEL, one of your engine parameters aren't ready and of course the emissions equipment connected properly.

It's a fully built motor ... Supertech dual rate titanium valve spring, retainers, ported head with a. 5 angle valve job and skunk 2 tuner 1 cams with skunk 2 adjustable cam gears .... Cp 9:1 pistons, golden eagle rods withe arp head studs ... 1000 cc injectors skunk 2 pro series intake manifold with aem fuel rail .... Turbonetics 60 trim turbo, tail 44mm waste gate, turbosmart dual port blow off valve .... Full 3" exhaust with apexi muffler .... Prob more but that's all I can think of right now .... And I was thinking about putting a quick release for cheater pipe so I can throw a cat in for inspection ....

i forgot to say it all depends on where you live... here in MD, if its odb-1 its just the tailpipe test and gas cap pressure test... they never look under hood... i passed my emissions with my turbo setup, and running a lil rich. lol...

it will depend on where you live. sometimes you can get lucky with installing stock map sensor / stock injectors / stock ecu.... most obd2 cars they just plug into your diagnostic port and as long as there are no trouble codes you are good to go. other states you have to jump through hoops. where i currently live, we dont have emissions at all, which is very nice haha

I am not turbo yet but I have done the OBD1 conversion P28 Hondata S100 tuned. I passed OBD2 emissions with no problem funny because it said right on the paper work that it had no DLC/OBD2 plug communication. They did not open my hood or look at anything. I have no worries that I will pass in 2 years when the time comes with a turbo kit on and working. It all depends on how strict your area is on emissions. Arizona is pretty strict but not to bad.

around here if there is no communication with the obd2 port its an automatic fail. funny how that varries state to state

They dont test by what ECU is in it, they test by the year of the car anything 96 or newer gets a OBD2 test. Worst case is the OP will need to remove turbo kit and put back to stock if emissions checks everything on the car. Another is just to remove a charge pipe so the car cant boost, stock ECU, cat, and stock injectors. Or like I said you get supper lucky no either will pass with a OBD1 conversion no issues or better yet have no emissions at all in your area.

In NJ the law just changed so its just emissions and check engine lights. I am not 100% sure but even if you are ODBII they do not plug in. I have not yet been through emissions with my car yet but it is turbo and now on ODBI. I assume I wont pass because of emissions more then anything else. I know most states check the gas cap as well.

Re: Can a turbo obd2 civic pass emissions
It is illegal to use older emmisions and motor on a new car...SO using OBD1 ECU on a 99 obd2 si would be illegal. YOu could use a obd1 motor on it but would have to swtich stuff around to make it obd2 compatible. The only exception to this is if youre state doesnt require any emmision testing...or you have a friend at a shop who does inspections.. There are def ways around any of this testing. If you know the guy at shop have him enter you info into the machine then pull up a working honda accord/civic ect that is obd2 ect. it will plug into youre obd2 and youre good. Exception to this would be newer vehicles that pull the vin and mileage out of the ecu...but youre good with a 2000si..
and having the no data connection cause of the obd2- 1 harness should be a definate fail in any state that does emmisons. shop was probably lazy or didnt care. but it is def illegal.
