cams! GSR or Skunk2 stage2????
im having a hard time figuring out what to do. i have both of these cams at my house, but im not sure which one to go with. the GSR's are tried and true to perform on FI hondas, but i have also heard good things about the NA s2 stage2's. so, before i go to get my next tune, i will be swapping out an itr IM and TB with b16a cams, to a victor x IM, 68mm TB, and either the GSR or s2 stage 2's. does anybody have any suggestions, dyno graphs of the differences between the 2, or just any experience with the s2s2's at all???? it would help alot because i am torn as to which ones to go with.
if it helps at all, my setup is:
b20 dart block/ fully built 9.0 comp.
b16 head toda valvetrain ferrea valves
t3/t4 60 trim at 10psi
44mm tial wg
greddy s blow off valve
i had the s2s2's on my NA GSR with CTR pistons and b16 head. they were completely crazy performing cams with that setup. i loved the way they popped vtec and came on pulling very hard. i guess the only question is are they too big for the setup?
edit: i may also have the s2 stage 1's, which are way smaller than the stage 2's, but are only a bit taller than CTR or ITR cams.

Sorry, alittle off topic. But i am doing more or less the EXACT same swap as you in the next month or so. I have a built and boosted b20 right now with a t3/t4 at 11 psi,and i have a b16 head im about put on. Let me know.
Btw i hear gsr cams are real nice to tune with.

Re: cams! GSR or Skunk2 stage2???? (Boostedb20EH2)
hell yeah. like i said the gsr's are proven to be nice so i think ill go with them anyway, that way i dont go crazy if the stage 2's are too big, ill wind up getting crazy overlap and contamination and burn something in my engine. i just wanted to here it from someone with some experience that can vouch for stage 2's if good or bad. im wondering if the crazy overlap of the s2s2 can be dialed out a bit with some cam gears. anybody??

Some of the best cams to buy for a boosted B-series are 01 ITR cams, so find the lift & duration of 01 ITRs and compare your s2 to those. CTRs are also very good for boost.

Re: (JoePSI)
I think ur gonna need to be going further than 10lbs to see good affects from them.
I would say that a 400+HP and atleast 9k rev limit is the minimum to make any power w/ those cams, but w/ ur setup that can be easily done.

Re: (95dxb18c1)
well the specs for the stage 1's are very close to the itr/ctr cams. they are a bit bigger, i believe about 4-6 degrees more duration and about .4 more lift on both intake and exhaust. im guessing these would be a really good choice! the stage 2's are humongous compared to the stage 1's, with about 7 degrees more duration than the stage 1's and like .8 more lift... these things are huge. but, im also guessing that since they are so big, not many people have attempted to use them for an FI car. i was hoping somebody had some info, but seeing the specs, id probably just go with the stage 1's... and yeah the ctr/itrs cams are proven too, so they are always a good choice. does any body happen to know how i can tell the difference between the stage 1's and 2's?? i sold someone my old motor with the stage 2's in it, and strangely, i wound up buying the motor back, but when he was advertising the car, he said it had stage 1's. so im not sure if he changed them or what, and i cannot reach him. any help is cool.

I swapped out my GSRs cams for CTRs and picked up 9whp. Granted this is at 8-9 psi on a SC34. I think you'll need to flow more air to see large gains. As a side note I had more power under the curve with the CTRs and decreased spool time by about 500 rpm.

Re: (jdm_dc_fan)
stage 1's are $550 at racingworks.com. ctr's you can probably find at a dealership for cheaper than most other places. inlinefour has them listed at $350 for one cam. but thats garbage. you can def. find them somewhere else for cheaper.

I am also interested to know if someone tested the Skunk2 Stage2 cams in a FI car.
I am building a Turbocharger over my NA setup and wish to know the results. In few weeks I will have some results.
My NA Specs: (165whp)
B16a stock block 11.1 CR (shaved head)
Skunk2 Stage2 NA Cams with AEM Camgear(+1 -1)
Skunk2 valvetrain
AEBS Intake Manifold
4x2x1 Hytech style
MSD wires and Blaster 2 coil
Venon 800c injectors
CAI
Lighweight Flywheel and Ceramic Clutch Disc
My turbo choice to add over all NA setup:
GT28RS .63 ar @ 7psi
3'' downpipe and 2.5 exhaust
Any suggestions?
