Default Cams + Boost

Along my daily reading/learning I keep coming to a question.

Say for example which can would be best for a B18C with an InlinePro mani feeding a GT30R. I ask mainly because my old setup died a horrible death and my PeakBoost mani is going back for repairs.

Now for a cam that's safe on stock valvetrain, the choices are limited at best.

ITR/CTR
S2S1s
Blox Type A
BC3+(I'm actually wondering if anyone's tried these out yet)

I've read that if you go bigger than an ITR/CTR with a log manifold you lose power, but is that true with a cam along the same lift/duration as an ITR/CTR?

And before I get corrected, I know all those cams are bigger than an ITR/CTR, there just in the same league (Stg. 1 cam)

Comments are as always welcome.

Skunk2 Tuner1s seems to be the way to go these days. Should make a little more power then the CTR/ITRs.

Are they stock valvetrain compatible?

I ran CTRs on my last setup, stock valvetrain, and it ran fine. I'm a big fan of the stock revlimiter, it keeps me from doing stupid stuff.

Skunk2 recommends upgrading your valvetrain but it says on their website it isn't neccesary.

what are these cams about? Type R cams provide a wee bit less mid range than GSR cams but makes quite a bit more on the top end. now even though type R cams provide a little less mid range, its not to the point where its not enough, its basically a good balance. how do these skunk2 cams compare?

on a boosted motor there is no aftermarket cam that is safe to use on stock valvetraing, assuming by valvetrain you mean springs/retainers.

cause factory honda valve springs are the SUCK! unless you have type R springs which are good enough for type R cams but still cant handle an aftermarket cam, there just not stiff enough and they cant handle the higher lift of anftermarket cams which leads to coil bind etc...

if your going to upgrade your cams you must upgrade your valvesprings and retainers END OF STORY, you dont take a shower and put on dirty underware do you?

i agree with this statement. no need to put so much stress on the stock valvetrain when there are affordable springs/retainers available.

Whoa guy, no need for the hostility. I'm just trying to find out information, that's all.

I don't think he's being hostile, he's just speaking the truth.

Indeed.

I'm really trying to get at the technical specs on why this is, as far as boosted applications go.
