Bypass valve or BOV
Whats the difference between a bypass valve and a blowoff valve? I think they do the same thing, but I've only heard of Bypass valves on superchargers and on biturbo systems...
I want to put a bypass valve on a single turbo system, so that it isnt as loud as a BOV, for the sleeper effect...
If thats not as good idea, can you tune a BOV to be silent? I know sequential BOV's are a bit quiter because they gradually let the air out.

Re: Bypass valve or BOV (civicdragon)
same thing... the bypass valves are on superchargers and BOV on turbo's.
I dont' know the particulars but I think it's in the way they operate on both systems... you will want the BOV... and good luck finding a sleeper one... but if your pushing enough boost and shift fast enough all you'll hear is a whislte for a split second.
getting a bigger one wont solve your problem either... chances are with low boost you wont have enough to have it actually work the way it's suppose to...
get what comes ith the kit you buy.. and use that for a while...
sleeper is you shifting at a lower rpm and low engine load... then letting it rip as you pass them.... IMHO..

if you really want your BOV to be quiet, run some tubes/hoses so that the air-flow recirculates into your intake stream. that's really the only way to keep it quiet.

Re: Bypass valve or BOV (civicdragon)
that's how stock turbocharged cars are routed.
They route the air released from the BOV back into the intake tract to make it street legal or pass emissions (one of those two or both )
good luck,
aj
