Built Turbo LS with cam swap running untuned.
hey guys,
Quick question. I have built bottom end (LS) and a 57Trim Turbo with a FMU/fuel rail/pump/fpr And i bought a built head for it. So i'm putting it on. It has a Stg 2 cam with it as well. I'm just wondering if anything BAD is going to happen if i run it untuned with the new built head and cams for a couple days (should have a tune on it by tuesday)
the car has 10-12K miles on the car before with 0 problems. I KNOW it won't run to it's full potential but just checking.
Thanks

fmu + bigger cams. you already entered the realm of needing a tune, but with the cams, i wouldnt skimp any more. you could get away with it, but i believe you would be on borrowed time.

these threads never cease to amaze me.
how much time, money, and effort have you already put into your money pit? what's a little more time, money, and effort to make it all worthwhile and reliable? it shouldn't even be questioned. do it right, spend some more money, wait a little longer, put a little more effort into it, and get it properly tuned. you're at the homestretch of getting your car back on the road with all of this cool **** on it.
do whatever it takes to do it right. you've come too far to add to the risk of it blowing it up. if that means towing it someplace before running it, than so be it.

I agree with everybody else. No built motor should be driven or even started without atleast a decent basemap. Its way cheaper to pay for a tow to get it tuned then to buy new internals.
