built ls
whats up i got a few questions i just bought a built B18B1 cp 9:1 pistons, eagle rods, acl race bearings, arp head studs, oil pump, water pump. i have also bought a ls head that has been ported and polished but everything else on it is stock now my questions is what head gasket should i buy for this motor im looking to get 400hp don't know if that matters.second what would the head be torque to how many lbs.thrid what brake pads and disc should be upgrade to with more horsepower you need more braking power but without braking your bank. i have a greddy turbo kit thats in my car now but this kit won't get me that hp so i will be buying another turbo kit like a ramhorn and nice size turbo don't know if this helps anyone who can help me with this let me know thanks.marcus

Re: built ls
If you're really concerned about braking, pick up a set of Brembo X-drilled rotors and some aggressive pads. That's what i did with my setup...i was having too much fade at the track so i upgraded. It was a good choice.

Re: built ls
PBR race pads with brembo cross driled and slotted rotors can be had on ebay for liek 225 bucks shipped. Then get your self a set of stainless steel teflon braided brake hoses to replace the factory rubber ones and you will have more than enough braking for the car. Big brake kits are definatly not needed for these small cars, the stock caliper with upgraded pads rotors and lines will be more than enough. I run this exact setup on my teg and it stop on a dime.
I believe i fyou have money burning a hole in your pocket you can get a set or spoon monoblock 4 piston calipers for about 2000 bucks but completely not worth it unless its a certified stripped caged track car or something
what ever you do, DO NOT get some no name brake rotors lol
here is a link

Re: built ls
60 trim t04e with a .63 or .82 hotside stage 3 wheel would get you to 500 maybe little more with race gas and 350-400 on pump gas
60-1 or 62-1 with a .63 hotside is also a great turbo, very streetable and a nice compressor map and good for 600range on race gas
then thers the sc60 sc61 gt35 mayn options

The best turbo for your goals would fall into the GT30r, BW S256 / S258 range. An SC61 or GT35R are too large for your plans. Any of the aforementioned turbos (30r/256/258) will make around 400whp on pump gas (maybe more) and easily crack 550whp on race gas. Look into them...check my sig, you can see which i chose

Re: built ls
Right. For 400whp on pump gas... He lists it right here
T3/t4 61mm compressor wheel stage V turbine wheel ( comparable to SC61 ) 810 shipped
T4 P-trim turbine wheel with 61mm compressor wheel ( comparable to T3 SC61 or T61) 825$ shipped
I DO NOT recommend the 1st one he listed, 61mm compressor w/ stage III wheel. That is terribly mismatched

All you turbo guru's, would a Holset HX35 or HY35 work for him since he doesn't want to drop a ton of money on a turbo?

Re: built ls
Those are main studs, not head studs. You bought the wrong thing... You also could of saved a ton of money by getting a cast top mount like Turbo-LS has on his car.
