built head, does vtec matter?

built head, does vtec matter?
I am looking at buying this built d16z6 with a non vtec head. It has je pistons and eagle rods, port and polished head, titanium valve sspring and lifters, turbo cam, etc. With a built head like that is it going to matter that it doesn't have vtec?
What kind of a power loss would I be looking at?

Does Vtec matter? Well if you understand how it works then you could answer your own question. Also what are your power goals? That would help. Essentially Vtec allows you to switch from a low cam prfile to a high cam profile at a designated RPM. This allows for a smooth idle and good low rpm part throttle performance. Then when you romp on the gas you go to a high profile cam with great top end performance because of the increase in flow. So really, only you can decide if it's worth it to you.

I understand how vtec works, I am looking for a high horsepower forced induction engine.
My question is for this fact, will the vtec make more power if I have an aftermarket cam and ported and polished non vtec head? I wouldn't thnk it would on the top end, and with the turbo for torque on the bottom end.
So please let me know, asap...

VTEC technology allows you to have two cam lobe sizes optimized for both extremes. If you want just an aggressive cam with a large lobe, not only will you lose low end driveability, your car will idle like **** (read: muscle car).

but yet, at the same boost level with my "vteck" i'll make more power....hmmm
if the motor is out of the car, then swapping a vtec head isnt a big deal, just do it

VTEC
Three different camshaft lobes with there own lifts and durations. 2 operate at the same time for a certain range, and for the most powerful range of rpm the big boss lobe.
Low rpm goodness-mid-High rpm madness
Imagine you had an EVO-8 with that nice HKS cam it only works best at a certain RPM range, inline at the staging lane all I can hear is this lumpy *** idle might sound cool but gas mileage is hurting that guy ( I think in my head) ....
Its your choice, the great things we Honda's lovers have. Choose to not take it?
How long intake and exhaust valves should stay open, how high should the valves open.
A high rpm Non VTEC camshaft at low rpm will have too much overlap, have too much duration, and have a high lift.
A low rpm non VTEC camshaft at high rpm will lack enough over lap, have low lift, and have a short duration.
Does this make it any clearer?

Im guessing its a z6 block with an a6 head? or similar non vtec head. Are you asking if a built non vtec head is better than a stock vtec one? if thats the case I say go for the built non vtec, if you are choosing between two built heads go for vtec.
