HEY ?. mini me swap???'s D15&D16vtec
I have a D15b2 which im rebuilding, And i also have a D16z6 wit a busted piston or something. Would i get more power out of the D16z6 or the D15non vtec block with D16vtec head? Which is more powerful. Cuz i have intentions on doin the mini me to my eg.jus wana kno what ppl think. Let me kno. Thanks guys p.s. What is (vtec-e) Any differance? no clue. let me kno

D15 nonvtec block would make more power. because d15's have longer strokes and taller heads while D16's have shorter strokes and shorter heads. So Long stroke + short head = high CR which = more power. Vtec-e is a reverse vtec where it basically pop's out of vtec at a lower RPM. And the Vtec is for economy instead of power. The higher lift cam is the regular cam instead of the vtec cam. But it starts in vtec, and pops out of it instead of popping into it. Its basically a huge LOL, but it works. Usually changes the head from a 12 valve setup to a 16 valve setup when it pops out. because the vtec-e cam is so fkn low its basically like having only 1 intake valve.

From what I have seen, without tuning, the mini me you speak of actually makes a bit less, or at best the same power as a stock Z6. As for the Vtec-E it is out of the civic VX, and its purpose is to improve fuel economy, not performance. Hope that helps. Good luck whichever way you go!

The head code is P07-1 . The guy i got it from jus told me its from the 95 VX. of course. And he said that the z6 block has a cracked piston, but i havent checked into that yet. Well now again im in search for a 1.6vtec head again

What you are really looking for is a head though. Because i was thinking about it after I talked to you yesterday that the D15Z1 or w/e the VX head is, is a D15 head and will be tall unlike D16 heads, so it wont make more power. It will just add VTEC-E which doesnt make power anyway lol.

No. If you use that head you'll likely need to chip and tune anyway, that combination yeilds something like 12:1 compression (the VX used dished pistons, the D15B7 doesn't so you end up with insanely high compression) the VX head doesn't flow very well though if i remember correctly.

most D15's have shorter strokes and bigger combustion chambers in the heads. Compared to the D16's. aka they have "taller" chambers.
and i didnt know that the VX had dished pistons, if that was the case then ya the CR will be SUPER HIGH and it will def need chip and tune and hihg *** octane gas. I just figured that a D15Z1 followed the same king of setup that most of the other D15's had. Short stroke with tall head. But if it had dished pistons, then thats a whole other thing...

Re: HEY ?. mini me swap???'s D15&D16vtec
well i guess that is why the guy blew out a ring, or what ever he did. Since he had the 1.5 VTEC-E head on a z6, he said he thinks he either blew a ring or cracked a piston. But i dunno. Dont see that happenin too often. So VTEC-E = no good. Well now again in on the search for a (1.6 VTEC head) lol. I guess i will be specific next time. HEY thank all of you for the help. For real
