I have seen very minimal movement of the rods. How bad is it? .01mm side to side?

Your talking about where the rod meets the crank or the piston?

its where the rod connects to the crankshaft, it has slight back and forth motion

It is usually referred to as rod side clearance.Up to about .015" is OK.

that usally happens when it has spun a bearing. I would have it rechecked for clearances and retorque just to make sure, becuase it seems like it has clearance problems. cheack it and good luck.

A spun bearing does not move side to side. The rod will usually move in an up and down motion with a spun bearing. Its normal like I stated before but movement must be very minimal.

Awesome, you should be good to go. Again the movement is very minimal, correct?

with clearences correct me if im wrong but dont clearences depends on how the motor is going to be used and how much power it will handle. i think i read loose clearences are for high apps or som ething like that..
