Default Building LS for Boost, Detailed Recommendations?

Just about have the $$$ saved up to do a major (re)build of my LS block I've had for like a year. Plans are for new oil/water pumps, bearings, thrusts, JE pistons (stock CR), Crower rods, GE sleeves bored to 83mm, and balance rotating assembly. My question was, when I'm getting the machine work done (sleeving etc) what little things do I need to ask for to make this block totally bullet-proof? Are there any downsides to O-ringing the sleeves? It's little stuff like that I don't want to find I want later and have to have more work done.

So far so good, just make sure to get headwork done. The LS/B20 head really comes to life with some head work and cams. Later Allen

well..im gonna say this because of a case of mishap.

you might want to stay stock bore or slightly over(81.5mm) incase if you would happen to drop a valve. still get it sleeved but get stock or .20 over. than you can always re bore incase of a mishap.

also, i recomend getting o-rings in the block..i had a major problem with a golden eagle block blowing headgaskets daily...i think if the block was o ringed it would have solved my problem.

also. before you install the pistons...make sure there are no sharp edge's on them(especially on the je's) they tend ot head up on the intake side around the outside edges of the valve pockets....it will melt the pistons. and you dont want that.

another thing..if you hae 93 octane out there...go with a 9.5:1 or 10.0:1 compresion...

Alright gonna get it o-ringed then as well. Anything else? There was something with the mains I have heard things about with GE sleeves. Some say you need to do it but most say you don't (can't remember what it is called, align bore sounds right but might not be)

Go with Darton sleeves. A little more money, but you get what you pay for. I agree with 2.2L above, stay either 81mm or go over a little....especially with the JE pistons, they have jagged edges with the intake reliefs are cut---I just sanded some out yesterday on a customers C5 Im building.

With the LS it is imperative that you have the head worked over to make any kinds of power. Most will say its cheaper to go lsvtec then building up an LS head (which is true). But if your a nonvtec diehard go for it......

If your interested in any work, you can PM me.
