Default building head only, bad idea?

ok well i have an ls motor and eventually plan on turboing it, but i was thinking of building the head some, not totally sure with what i want to do, was thinking like new valves, springs and retainers and like port match on the exhuast side, but would it be a bad idea to build the head and not the bottom end? would anny1 recogmend adding something in or something not to do? looking for opinions

for boost I would worry about building the bottom first.

that's the thing i don't get sometimes, you spend all that money and just wanna make 250 or 300whp which is very easy
