Default Building b16 for boost...

Im planning on getting my hands on a 99-01 Si and was looking to build and boost the b16.....since i dont know how far im going to push it i wanted to for sure build the engine right away before pushing it too far and possibly blowing it, getting my hands on new sleeves, pistons, rods, valves, valve springs, cams, cam gears, crank, throttle body fuel injectors and possibly port /polish.....a **** load of money but possibly worth it. Did i cover most of everything importnt or am i missing some obvious areas? Also.....i have no clue how to go about the ECU..? How does the boost affect the VTEC....im lost on the electronics aspect of this project and want the engine to be able to handle anywhere from 7 to 20 pounds....any feedback or recomendations???

well the main thing for boost higher than about 12-14 lbs is sleeves, pistons & rods. Modifying the head can get you some serious extra power but from most of the builds I've seen a stock head does ok. But definately search. I used to be in your shoes when I had a b16 but ended up going NA with it, no I've got a d16 and I will be boosting it. Also for buying parts here's a thread I made....a long *** time ago.

Yeah I know. Building it yourself is half (or more than so) the work and fun. My car is fully built bottom end, suspension, lsd, you name it. No sleeves though and its been running for a year at 16 psi with not one problem

My tunner was excellent.

But it will be for sale. Just thought I would drop the post.

Have fun and yeah, read a lot. That's what I did to begin with.
