so priming it is just basically turning it over to get the oil to the head??

so i should keep valve cover off to make sure oil is getting circulated? before i start it up

NO, its to supply oil to the whole engine so when you turn the key you already have oil where its needed.

ok so how exactly do you prime it do you turn key on to acc or on and leave it there for 30 seconds the click it back or do you actually turn it over for 30 seconds??

Please take your car to a shop and have someone do it for you.

I remove the plugs, disconnect the distributor plug and crank the car over until the oil light goes off.

+1 to that. I'm going to do it until I read oil pressure on my gauge I installed. It's a great thing to have to make sure you're in spec with pressure too.

Are you serious?? The guy built the engine by himself and then he is gonna take it to a shop to have them prime it lololol....
